Anti Farming system
Hi all
Yesterday I tried doing some farming in a different area to usual. I went to Nolani academy, entered the mission, opened the gate and let all the char (about 10 of them) gather around me and I used all my adjacent foes dmg skills to kill them. It worked wonders for the first 2 or 3 times, but now whenever I try it again, the most I ever seem to get is the char armour stuff so Im sure the anti farming system has kicked in. My question is, is there any way to make the drops go back to usual? Like perhaps not using that area for 24 hours or so? Thanks |

I am not convinced the drops reduce for repeat farming of the Sorrow's Furnace/Grenth's Footprint areas.
I have farmed the crap out of SF/GF and I still get green drops like other players. I only farm with real people though, maybe that makes a difference. |

From my farming experience, you needn't even go to a new zone half the time, so long as you really play through the zone and don't just do one small area of it repeatedly. I don't think the anti-farming routines check for solo-play or hench-only play etc, as much as just repeated killing of one or two mob types.
Everything else is just luck. Sometimes a run just sucks, and it has nothing to do with anti-farming measures by ANet. |

This exists in UW as well.
I've done 18 consecutive runs (no joke) and gotten, maybe 1 ecto. Let's say there's on average 40 or less smites per UW trip. That, coupled with about 12 ataxes a trip Now that's 720 smites, and 216 ataxes. 2 ecto total. Yeah, 2. Got pissed (naturally) and left the character alone for 24 hours Did another UW run. 4 ecto before I even got to the smites. It cycles, just let the character cool off for a day if the drops are shit. |

Of course, so far as farming nolani goes, just let them kill you, then it's no different than if you failed the mission.

I just dont understand why there is a odd anti-farm system... Sure i
understand they want to stop bot use and such, and i agree with that (mainly i just hate bots). but still its making life difficult for everyone. how is someone to afford Fissure armor and such when you constantly have to stop farming a bunch of areas. I always kind of knew that if you left for 24 hours or so things would be back to normal. But its just annoying. Besides you dont always get lucky. i have done Sorrows furnace probably a dozen time with and without henchies and i still didn't get one single green (the green item i was selling in the trade forum was not mine, i was selling it to help a friend who as a hard time selling stuff) I just think they should ease up a little whit the "anti-farming" stuff. Make it so people can still enjoy farming... (yes i do enjoy going out there and killing things) Also the fact that they keep changing skills so farming builds dont work. whats that all about. what does the game really as to be done in a group, is it wrong to like playing and farming alone once in a while. You might say no, but it sure looks like Anet as something against it |

There's a good reason why. Think I posted that somewhere in Tyrian's League.. but anyways.
It's an easy place to practice. Because one can kill so many at once and easily, the chances of dropping a dye were pretty common. Now, it's different. Not so sure if anyone noticed a TIP in the actual game, it's better to go play maps normally because monsters need to "restock" up on items. Good excuse Anet. |

You bribe them, of course. If you let yourself die 100 times, they will give you a crystlline sword each drop for 500 kills.

You farm Nolani because very rarely, a Ghostly Remains salvages to something special.

I've heard rumors about that salvage. Care to explain? Or it's a secret?

Abuse the Search. It can take a real beating, though only once every 30 seconds.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...stly+Re mains However, as I have yet to see screenshots, and my own limited experience with Ghostly Remains has yielded no Ectos, I won't bother again till I see substantial evidence, i.e. screenshots. |

well its no rumor and its no lies;
Its right in the guild wars strategy guide. in the salvage tables towards the end of the book. it says ghost remains = dust, and sometimes Ectos. Now say whatever you wish and believe all you wish. But i think that source is good enough. and if you wish to not believe me, buy the guide yourself. |

true, you have a point the guide is old.....
but.... i had to kill over 300 drakes before one of them dropped a Monstrous Fang so..... maybe try expert salvaging 300 ghost remains. just saying that the odds are probably 1 out of every 100 but if your unlucky you dont get any for the first 500 then pouf, you get 5 in a row Edit: is it worth it? hell no, it would take you hours to gain half that. and you could do UW 4 or 5 times instead and find some ectos for sure.
